FAIL AGAIN, FAIL BETTER.

"Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter.
Try again. Fail again. Fail better."
                                                                                                      — Samuel Beckett
In my first year of Communication Design, especially during the first semester, I made mistakes very often with regard to the objects I produced. I always regarded them as evidence of failure and I was frustrated that I could not a good result on the first try. All this has made me wonder if this was really the area in which I wanted to work.

FAIL AGAIN, FAIL BETTER. This expression serves as a motto and reflects my learning in regard to the mistakes I made and surpassed until the completion of the projects, a big part of what I learned about design.

This was a exercice in which we (Third Years) had to make a card that a first year student would choose, that would have an image to transmit a certain message.
Then, we woud have a conversation regarding the message and advice them.

After that, we made a sort of relation map regarding the conversation itself and a poster that would carry our conclusive motto.
Design implies analysis, interactions, research and questioning - the process results from a sequence of errors.
It is not vital to know everything and have the right answers right away. If we are afraid of make mistakes, it is very likely that we end up doing things quite similar to those we have already done, which means that we don't evolve our capacities and as designers.

The chosen phrase was: "MAKING MISTAKES IS THE KEY TO LEARNING"
With this theme, I intend to show the active role that errors have in the process and how we can create from them. I believe that in order to find effective and balanced design, we can not be afraid to make mistakes. Design is constantly testing and
change ideas and concepts. There is a methodological process in which we think, we experience, we see the result, we learn from it and we improve.
FAIL AGAIN, FAIL BETTER.
